James Morrison

I've recently discovered this amazing singer-songwriter named James Morrison.  Apparently, he was the #1 solo artist in the U.K. last year and he had two big hits in the U.S. as well.  I am beginning to realize that I have a bit of a delayed reaction when it comes to discovering really great music.  So excuse my ignorance if it seems as though I've been living under a rock.

Anyway, back to James Morrison.  I've been playing his songs "You Give Me Something" and "Wonderful World" on my iPod a lot recently.  He has this soulful acoustic vibe that cuts straight to your heart.  He has a new album coming out September 29 and the debut single off that album is a-ma-zing.  It's called "You Make It Real" and you can watch a live performance of him singing it here.  Watch it now...then come back here so I can talk about it some more...

Awesome song, huh?  Wow.  The lyrics, melody, his voice, the emotion all go together so seamlessly and I can't help but feel it in the center of my chest.  You know that Gestalt philosophy that states that "the whole is more than the sum of its parts"?  Well, this song exemplifies that.  There's something about this song I can't put my finger on that makes it greater than a description of its parts.  I absolutely love that about really great music.
