Best of 2008

As I happily sync music to my shiny new iPhone, I find myself reflecting on the best in music this past year. First, I will list the best albums of 2008, in my opinion. By best album, I mean the kind of album that you can listen to straight through without pressing the skip button. Where each song seamlessly leads into the next and is basically, just awesome. This is likely going to be a work-in-progress as I further examine my itunes library. So you will likely see daily additions to this list.

1. David Archuleta - David Archuleta ----- Well, duh. You knew this was going to be on the list. I'm not biased. I really do love this album. It's like an addiction. Like crack. Even though I think I don't want to listen to the album, as soon as the first few piano strains of 'Crush' play, I have to listen to the whole album. That magical voice just draws you in. And it's just so darn catchy. What is so unbelievable is that this album is just the beginning of many albums that will be more awesome than its predecessor. Standout tracks -- A Little Too Not Over You, To Be With You, Waiting for Yesterday*, Somebody out There*, Works for Me*

2. Spirit - Leona Lewis ----- I'm actually listening to this album now as I type. If you haven't listened to this album yet, you must. Now. It's good old-fashioned r&b. Amazing vocal ability. Lovely melodies. Like Mariah Carey in the good old days. But with more humility and purity. Standout tracks -- Take a Bow, Yesterday, Run*, Bleeding Love, Better in Time

3. Little Voice - Sara Bareilles ------- This is one talented chica. Very smart and quirky lyrics. The epitome of a singer-songwriter with raw talent. Standout tracks -- Gravity, Fairytale, Between the Lines, Bottle it Up, Love on the Rocks

To be continued...
