The Edge of Reason

You are standing at the edge of a cliff. The tips of your toes surrounded by air. Sun shining overhead. Darkness looming below. What keeps you from falling? How long do you stand there before giving in to the force of the wind, the invisible hand pushing at your back, the pain in your chest? At what point do you tell yourself that enough is enough, that holding on is no longer your goal, that letting go is the answer? You've stood there for what feels like an eternity, trying to stand tall and strong against the immense pressures trying to push you down. But your legs are weak, your soul is weary. When is it okay to give up? When is it okay to fall?
